This wonderful Colonial Revival stone and shingle house was designed by Spitzmiller & Norris.

Our clients have a very large family with a passion for entertainment, so there was much to consider when designing this wonderful home.

We wanted the house to feel that it grew over time. The exterior stone is a Schist stone from Pennsylvania. We worked meticulously with the builder and landscape architect to make sure the stone had the proper look to feel as though the home had been there many years! We also wanted to make sure the house did not overpower the lot, so scale was extremely important- as well as stepping the wings of the house back.

It was important to get the scale of the rooms in the house proportional for the family’s needs. Circulation and flow were of utmost importance -as well as good storage for a large family. Axial views were equally important.

The main Stair Hall off the Foyer is a favorite of ours - having it set aside really makes it feel like a hidden gem!  Lots of natural light was very important and even on a rainy day, the quality of light is wonderful.
